Have we mentioned lately that you backers are our FAVES?! Because you most definitely are! Which is why we're here to share some major developments that happened this week with ya'll!
First up: a more eco-friendly packaging facelift!
We knew that we wanted the packaging for the 6 piece Eco set to match the product characteristics (recyclable/sustainable/earth-y)...which pointed us toward using natural brown Kraft paper packaging. We found that to print directly on to the box severely limited our ability to incorporate the first lifestyle photo image that we used on the first render in the campaign. We put our design team to work to come up with a fun concept that would still include the open cut out window and same dimensions, but wouldn't require any extra laminate or cover material that would allow for printing to occur. We think they knocked it out of the park with this design below--what do you say?!

We also received the first factory sample of the Bamboo cutlery tray...and It. Is. SLICK! The color is perfectly spot on to what we envisioned. For all of you "Break room Bundle-ers" ---you are going to LOOOOOVE it!!!
When we discovered Method Sourcing last year, there were so many things that made us want to partner with them to bring the Eco line to life and offer exclusive versions of their counter-top compost bin and cutlery tray, products that we just adore. The most obvious was their infectious love of all things sustainable, our planet, and products that encourage us all to be more eco-conscious.
Their ethos and mentality has inspired us to really be more conscious about what products we use here at our warehouse and office in regards to shipping and plastics/paper usage. Where we can, we've begun the slow integration of substituting for more sustainable alternatives, actively replacing products and finding ways to reduce paper usage (i.e.-electronic billing and recycling packing supplies and boxes), We always try to keep in mind that "every little bit" is better than nothing at all :)

We're excited and hope you are too! Because, we totally get that it's normally not easy to get fired up about flatware... Forks and spoons just don't elicit the same wondrous excitement that some of the more flashy and tech-y Kickstarter projects do...
But KNORK is different. This beautiful .gif below...this is the shocking truth about what happens when you get to know us. It can turn the most mild mannered restaurant guest into a common thief, searching for the best way to smuggle out their new obsession inside a purse or jacket. PSA: PLEASE don't do this--stealing is very bad and it hurts our restaurants when they have to reorder silverware All. The. Time. *The more you know....*
Suddenly, you become spoiled and begin to resent having to use other-and some may say- inferior forks and spoons...longing for the next meal that you'll get to use your KNORK pieces.
It was very important for us to translate all the things that make people cuckoo for KNORK over to this NEW Eco line. If you love our stainless, you'll be head over heels for this one too.

We’re sitting on the precipice of being fully funded (helloooooo 99% funded!).
Innovative creativity can come from anywhere and at any age, which is just what happened the day when young Mike Miller took the most life-altering trip to Pizza Hut in the history of Pizza Hut trips (while they’re probably all great, this one was monumental). Dining with friends, he struggled to eat his pizza with a normal fork, but was hesitant to pick it up to eat, lest he ruin his snazziest pair of slacks and Izod shirt, thus inciting ridicule from his peers. He noticed an employee in the back using an old fashioned rocker pizza slicer to cut, imagined how that functionality could exist on his fork, and the rest is flatware history. KNORK was born---the silly name stuck, but it grew into a seriously cool line of well-designed flatware.
We’re certainly not the new kid on the block in the flatware world…we have a cult-like following of chefs and customers that swear by KNORK and our original stainless steel line. But we’re a tiny guy in a game full of big players. Our aim is to surprise and delight with our ingenuity, skill, and determination (and cool products--can’t forget those). We’re a company filled with young blood and big ideas…which means that like other young entrepreneurs and startups right now, we’re working at minimizing our carbon footprint. To us, that meant exploring sustainable alternatives in our R&D, and encouraging our customers to make a tiny, slightly more earth-conscious approach to their everyday lives. Which usually involves eating food. A lot of the times while on-the-go. So we made a utensil to keep up.
When we found the right material that didn’t skimp or eliminate on any of our original design tweaks that makes a KNORK a KNORK-we knew we had a winner and threw our hat into the “earth-friendly” product ring. We know that we’re not the first to do something like this, nor will we be the last, but we’re honestly the best, most thoughtfully designed option out there in terms of plant-based utensils.
We have some epic Earth Day content, some very, very rad prototypes to share, and more work to do to convert the world into diehard KNORK fans.
